Hello people!!*
In a few days, it will do one month that was carnival of St Pere Pescador. And now I’m going to tell you a little bit about the carnival’s history, and the carnivals in general.
In Carnival, the people dress in very colorful and sometimes crazy costumes and some of them with elaborate decoration too; and there are parades with the carriages of the different groups of costumes. This year, the Carnival has lasted some days of February, but often it use to be on lasts days of February and the firsts days of March.
This celebration takes place in some places of the world, concretely in the countries where there is the Christian tradition. And traditionally, the festivities begin forty days prior to Ash Wednesday, but this date is often set by local churches and local customs which can lead to Carnival celebrations taking place on different dates.
Originally Carnival was a pagan rite, but in the Middle Age the Catholic Church turned it a festival to celebrate “good bye to the excesses” and for it prepared for the fast (dejuni) of the “Quaresma”, that nowadays it hasn’t already left to keep.
This year, I have dressed up as a schoolgirl with my friends and many people. Approximately, we were sixty five members in our group of Carnival and everybody dressed up as a schoolgirl, also the boys. As you know, the most of the boys like dressing up as the girls, and really it’s very funny because you can see them with skirt, dress, wig, make-up on the face… and more =)
I went to carnival in St. Pere Pescador that this day it was the first of the Carnival’s week-end, and the next week-end to Empuriabrava and Castelló.
Those week-ends were very funny on my point of view.
Here, I leave a photo of marina, elisenda, neus, merce, laia and me, and you could see our costume. Maybe it dosen't see well, when I have more photos of the carnival I will put an other.
